The Tarn

The Tarn region is known for its privileged and sunny climate most of the year, as well as its amazing cultural richness, be it architectural, culinary or social.

In addition to its weather, the Tarn hosts a multitude of beautiful landscapes and breathtaking sites that can be easily visited.

The region has an impressive natural and historical heritage, and discovering it is an experience not to be missed.
Added to this is the delicious regional gastronomy, typically based around duck, pink Lautrec garlic, veal, cured Lacaune ham and of course the wide variety of Gaillac wines. All just waiting to satisfy every gourmet’s palate.
The city of Albi
Aussac Gîtes is the ideal starting point to discover the region, with a variety of fabulous sites nearby, starting with the magnificent Episcopal City of Albi, recently listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The impressive gothic style Sainte Cécile cathedral is the largest brick built cathedral in the world and with its 18,500m² of frescoes and decorations it is the largest painted cathedral in Europe.

Dubbed the “Red City” because of its numerous red brick buildings, Albi is a city with a rich and preserved heritage that you must visit while in the region.

Luckily, Albi is only 15 minutes away from Aussac Gîtes making it so easy to visit this historical site, with its medieval cobbled streets and world-renowned cathedral.

Don't forget to take a trip on the tourist train - fun for young and old alike!
